Fall 2016 Extra Credit Project
Create a poster, flyer or brochure for 20 extra points in your quiz category!
*You will present the poster, flyer or brochure on review day.
The project should help in reviewing for the semester final and future students who will be learning the topic during the year.
Rubric: Total of 20 Points
5 points - Explain the topic and sub topics.
5 points - At least three examples (if applicable) and more (if applicable) with visuals for each example.
5 points - Visual Appeal. No long paragraphs. Use bullentins to summarize main ideas.
5 points - Creativity. Think if anyone was to see your project would they be able to grasp the idea as review?
You will be assigned a one of the following topics so that all topics are presented on review day.
1.Fire Safety with use of fire safety equipment (fire extinguisher, acronym P.A.S.S, and fire blanket)
2.Significant Figures. Rules for counting and rounding answers with multiplication/division and subtraction/addition.
3.Density. Example on how to calculate each variable.
4.Six Physical Phase Changes for States of Matter.
5. Differences of solid, liquid and gas at the atomic level. How are the atoms arranged and the characteristics different for each?
6.Extensive Properties and Intensive Properties.
7. Evidences/Observations of Chemical Change.
8. John Dalton.
9. JJ Thompson.
10.Ernest Rutherford.
11.Niels Bohr
12. Bg MAC APE MAN
13.Bohr Models. Represent the first 10 elements.
14. Lewis Dot Structures. Represent the first 8 elements.
15. Lewis Dot Structures for Ionic Compounds.
16. Electron Configuration - Hund's Rule, Pauli Exclusion, Aufbau Principle.
17.Noble Gas Configuration
18. Naming and Writing Covalent Molecules. Include -mono through -deca
19. Naming and Writing Ioinic Compounds. Include canceling out charges, polyatomic ions and metals with more than one charge (roman numerals).
